New Delhi: The trailer of Kapil Sharma's much awaited film Firangi is out and it's definitely your ticket for a time travel to the past. The comedian-actor released the film's trailer today on Twitter, which starts with Kapil telling the tale of the time when all Indians stood against the firangis except one man - Manga (played by Kapil), who thought that the firangis - were not bad people. Later, the trailer shows that Manga is a very fun-loving and happy-go-lucky boy, but he always fails to come out with flying colours in whatever he does. What's exciting about Manga is his 'magic kick,' which heals all pains. The film has been shot in some places of Punjab, which are very beautifully depicted in the trailer and will make you enjoy the colours of Punjab's culture as well. Manga also finds the love of his life - his rajkumari - Sargi (played by Ishita Dutta). Kapil's smooth and enchanting love story takes a sad turn when the whole village stand between Sargi and Manga's love story and declare that Manga is one of the firangis. Then the 'fight for truth begins.' Will Manga be able to unite with his lover? Well, Kapil's fans already can't wait to know.
In no time, the posters of Kapil Sharma's Firangiwent crazy viral on the Internet. Firangi is the second movie on Kapil Sharma's resume after Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which was unable to receive a heartwarming response from the audience. The film is produced by Kapil himself and is directed by Rajiev Dhingra, who is also the creative director of The Kapil Sharma Show. It also features actress Monica Gill. The film will also have a special dance number by Iranian-Swedish actress Maryam Zakaria. Of the song, Maryam earlier told news agency IANS: "It feels great to be part of Firangi movie. I have done a special dance song with my favourite Kapil Sharma. This song is very special for me as after my Grand Masti movie, I am back on the screen with a very big song." Firangi is scheduled to release in November this year. Are you excited?

It is not just Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, many 'godmen' in India have been mired in controversies and scandals. Controversy can perhaps be the middle name of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is awaiting the court's verdict in a 16-year-old case of alleged sexual exploitation of two sadhvis, or women followers. In 2002, a sadhvi had written an anonymous letter to then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, accusing the Dera chief of sexual abuse. Fifty year-old Gurmeet Ram Rahim also faces murder charges--he is accused of murdering Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati for his writings against Dera Sacha Sauda. In December 2014, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered a CBI probe into allegations of forced castration of 400 dera followers inside an ashram. A former Dera follower Hans Raj Chauhan in his petition said that the followers were told that those who would get castrated would be able to meet God through the Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim. It is not just Gurmeet Ram Rahim, many 'godmen' in India have been mired in controversies and scandals. Asaram Bapu: Known as Bapuji among his followerws, Asaram Bapu is accused of allegedly raping a minor girl in 2013. The girl alleged that Asaram had asked her to perform oral sex on him, an act she declined. Following the brutal Delhi gang-rape on December 16, 2012, the self-styled godman had sparked a controversy with his comments, blaming the victim for the ordeal. "Only five-six people are not culprits. The girl is as guilty as her rapists... She should have called the culprits brothers and begged them to stop... This could have saved her dignity and life. Can you clap with one hand?" Asaram Bapu reportedly said. Chandraswami: The controversial 'godman' who died in May this year was considered an influential power broker when P V Narasimha Rao was the prime minister. It is said that Chandraswami gave 'spiritual advice' to actor Elizabeth Taylor, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and even underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. His fall-from-grace moment came when his name cropped up in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. In 1996, he was arrested on charges of duping a London-based businessman. Swami Nithyanand: The self-styled godman found himself in the eye of a storm after a news channel showed a video footage of Swami Nithyanand in an alleged sexual act with an actress. One of his followers accused Nithyanand of repeatedly raping her and threatening her with dire consequences if she approached anyone for help. On searching his ashram in Bengaluru, police found condoms and ganja from the compound. It was also alleged that some of his followers were forced into signing non-disclosure agreements to experiment with 'tantric sex'. Sant Rampal: This self-styled godman had a rags to riches story, who worked as a junior engineer in the Haryana irrigation department before becoming Sant Rampal. The controversial godman was arrested by police in November 2014 following a 30-hour standoff wherein Rampal's militia allegedly tried to stop paramilitary forces from entering the Satlok ashram. Subsequently, sedition charge was slapped on him and some of his followers. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi: His association with Beatles is well-known and so is his subsequent fallout with English rock band. It was alleged that Maharishi made sexual advances towards Mia Farrow, which eventually led to the Beatles' disillusionment with him. However, the other side of the story is that Maharishi found out the Beatles were allegedly doing drugs and therefore severed ties with the group. The Beatles' Sexy Sadie song, written by John Lennon, is believed to be an attack on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The 'spiritual guru' died in 2008. And then, there were some like Sarathi Baba and Nirmal Baba who were arrested on charges of fraud and cheating. While probing charges against Sarathi Baba in Bhubaneshwar, the police also found evidence against him for blackmailing young women with their nude photos, which were taken by hidden cameras in bathrooms of his ashram.

Tears in her eyes, she added, “But I have trust in this system till now. Umeed ki kiran hai (There is a ray of hope). We have fought so long for justice, only because the guilty should be punished 100 percent.”
A day before a CBI court in Panchkula pronounces its verdict in a rape case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, one of the complainants told The Indian Express that she is hopeful that her long wait for justice will end Friday.
“Hamney to suna hai, ye India hai, yahan aasani se nyay nahi milta hai. aur woh bhi jab ladai ek powerful ke khilaf ho. Paise wala kuch bhi kar sakta hai yahan. (We have heard it’s not easy to get justice in India, especially when the fight is against a powerful person. A person who has money can do anything here),” said the complainant, a former sadhvi at the dera. Tears in her eyes, she added, “But I have trust in this system till now. Umeed ki kiran hai (There is a ray of hope). We have fought so long for justice, only because the guilty should be punished 100 percent.”
“Fortunately, this case was handled by honest officers from CBI. They have tried their best to ensure justice to us. That’s why we have hope,” said the complainant. The CBI had lodged the FIR against the dera chief in 2002. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had referred the matter to the agency after an anonymous letter purportedly written by a sadhvi began circulating. In the letter addressed to the PM, Haryana CM and Chief Justice of high court, the sadhvi accused the dera chief of raping her and other sadhvis and pleaded for an inquiry. Before referring the matter for a CBI probe, the high court had taken a report on the matter from the District and Sessions Judge of Sirsa. The CBI subsequently succeeded in locating two sadhvis who deposed before a trial court that the dera chief sexually exploited them. In 2008, a CBI court ordered framing of rape charges against the dera chief. The complainant alleged, “My life has changed after I gave the statement. I can’t move freely. There is danger to my life. I am also apprehensive about lives of my family members.” “Nothing can happen in the dera without permission of the ‘Baba’ because of his terror. I have heard that if somebody speaks against the Guru, he should be lynched. The followers take his preachings as message of God. The dera chief gives money to followers if they influence their relatives and others to join the dera”.
She said dera followers had more faith in “baba” than their children. “If anybody complains against the dera chief, their parents would tell them, ‘you are wrong’. Many other sadhvis want to leave the dera, but they can’t because of the terror. If somebody dares to speak against the dera chief, he or she is subjected to atrocities. We have even heard that a girl’s backbone was broken,” she alleged. Asked how she mustered courage to speak up, she said, “I wanted to expose him. We were pressured and money was offered to us to change our statement”. Responding to the allegations, Dera spokesperson Dr Dilawar Insan said, “The case is underway. We don’t want to say anything at this stage. A senior dera functionary said, “These are concocted stories. How can a person be held guilty on the basis of an anonymous letter?”
